Well, this could be the biggest following, most read, social media blasted, drama filled, opinionated, and truth revealing week in Canadian moto history. The air smells better, flowers are brighter, my van runs better, gas seems cheaper, birds are singing and the war seems to have simmered. The last two years of work/life have been unbelievable stressful and tough. It’s hard to explain because outside people see the role I have and assume that’s what they want and there are some points of the job that is amazing, but just like being a factory racer which was all our dream at some time has it’s amazing, but the downs are a struggle beyond comprehension. Yesterday was a day where I felt a lot of work I’ve done finally felt worth it all. I’m not saying there haven’t been moments of triumph and appreciation but yesterday I had a feeling of a weight lifted if you will. It’s exciting times for MX Canada.
The Rockstar Energy Drink Triple Crown was announced yesterday by the team at Jetwerx. It was a secret I’ve known for quite some time and wanted to blurb it out as fast as I could but like you, I still had so many questions. The major one was how in the hell was this going to be funded by Rockstar if they still support CMRC. That secret was never revealed till the press conference yesterday where Marketing Director Mike Kelso said, “We’re here to talk about Jetwerx and the 2018 idea in front of us. In saying that I don’t believe two series can survive and today you can see where we support for 2018.” WOW, I was blown away that he shared that but was also relieved to hear it. This program hasn’t even started and Rockstar Energy is already jumped on board. That makes this series already feel great and should make the country realize that the plan that is being shared is no damn joke. THIS PLAN IS NO JOKE! Yes, there are many unanswered questions concerning grass roots, purse, the TBA events (both are 98% done and should be announced in a couple weeks time), this incentive program, rules etc. But these will all be answered over time before the Feb 24th opening round in Abbotsford BC for the kick off of AX. Will AMO play a big role in all of this? You’re damn right it will and I’m confident in the plan for the rest of the country to do so and join us. That and other news will be coming every 3-4 weeks as stated in the PR Conference yesterday. It’s just damn refreshing seeing someone other than myself realizing that change was and is needed from the top and then trickles to the bottom. I can’t tell you how many times a conversation I had with my former boss saying “This isn’t right, we need to get ahead, I’m talking to the people” type conversation and nothing was done. This is why AMO started and now this is why Jetwerx has begun and has the backing before it even goes. In no way shape or form was this dream of mine more than 3 years ago but times change as well as attitudes and apparently dreams. I still find myself sitting at home playing with my kids wondering what happened that fall day in 2014 that kicked all this into a high gear. This new series will take some figuring out for the teams and the racers but there is no way, no way in hell this is not a way better chance for everyone involved to market more for the dollar they deliver. I have a whole other blog for that. I’ve written many times and people always laughed or got mad but now, it’s safe to say the times, they are a changing with a crap load of meaning. Karma can be a bitch.
The final round of the 2017 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals happened a couple days ago. It’s been a mute topic after the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT but damn the 2017 season was some seriously great racing. No matter what side of the fence I was on all year (which was against everything CMRC) I’m still a fan at heart and I didn’t miss a moto from start to finish (Thanks, ConX2Share). The story lines between Maff-Thompson-Osby-Pettis-Wright-Surrat-Hayes in the MX2 and the Goerke vs. Pourcel in MX1 was as dramatic as it possibly could be. If you went to a national your money was spent well in 2017. I don’t really have much more to share on this. Congrats to Maff and Goerke for bringing home the title.
I received this today regarding PGMA:
Statement from Kourtney Lloyd regarding CMRC & Jet Werx Nationals in Prince George
To Whom it may Concern:
Prince George Motocross Assoc released a statement yesterday pertaining to the newly announced Jet Werx National Series which read as though we did not support Jet Werx with holding a race in Prince George, our intent was to inform and show unity with the CMRC but to also show our support to the Jet Werx Series. This did not come across in the wording. As a club, we are dedicated to providing Prince George with opportunities for MX in our community and will be in FULL support of each respective series. Our facility is available to all sanctions should they wish to lease or rent it. As a club, we did have a disconnect in communication in which I, Kourtney Lloyd take full responsibility for as I could not discuss certain things with the other board members. We look forward to working with the CMRC as well as with Jet Werx to build MX in Northern BC and gain Prince George recognition on a National level. As a club our priority is Prince George and bringing top level racing to our town, should that be 1 series or 2 we are prepared as a club to promote them and honor our contractual agreements. We are ensuring that regardless of what should happen that is beyond our control Prince is going to be holding a National event. The time and money gone into prep for the 2017 National should not be jeopardized because of things beyond our clubs control.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this and on behalf of the Prince George Motocross Assoc we apologize for the confusion and hope to move forward in a positive direction for our sport.

So there’s that. I do not see two races going to this track of this stature/level and I know for sure Justin Thompson is ok trying to do that in year one. This whole process had him trying to work together with Stally. He had no interest or made it impossible that now this type of stuff from Kourtney has to be written (though she admits to a small mistake, but also shares she was sworn to secrecy of it). This is the problem with boards: Too many Indians and not enough chiefs. Sometimes a big middle finger needs to be put to the air at certain folks and move on (I definitely think a couple should have after I heard how two fellas talked to Kourtney after that press conference yesterday).
So, that’s it for today. I have literally been on the phone all day long regarding all this new info. There is a shit ton to discuss and iron out but it will all get done and with the best interest of the sport, its racers and their families so we can all enjoy Motocross, Arenacross, and Supercross in Canada from grass roots to pros. Till then, race where you can, buy dirt bikes, chase chicks, catch big air, race friends, take out haters, win trophies, and dream of being a champion. This is the shit you can control!!
