#1 Story chosen by the GuaranteedMX Industry Voters: CMRC Becomes Extinct
The writing was on the wall nearly three years ago but by the end of 2017, the nearly 30 year run by the CMRC is now over. It really has been the biggest story for the past year but mostly behind closed doors and just the rumors on the outside. Finally, just under a month ago the announcement came sharing that Jetwerx – the new sanctioning body for Canada – purchased the CMRC and SPI (Stallybrass Promotions Incorporated) – which was the promotion group for the Rockstar Nationals.
In the nearly 30 years Mark and Jan Stallybrass ran Canada they did an amazing job. The united the country after the CMA wasn`t doing their job back in the early to mid-90`s. They built a professional series that gave jobs to hundreds of racers over the years. They gave fans a series to follow and make heroes out of some of our unknown Canadian talent. They really did do a lot of great things in Canada for a really long time. Love or hate them no one can deny they gave this sport then it has ever seen in the nearly 30 years they ran it.
Did it all just go wrong, or was it just time to end? You can put an argument out that could make both questions carry some merit but regardless of how the answers are revealed, or however you think it went down, for the first time in nearly three decades the Stallybrass name, CMRC, and the Pro Nationals will be run by someone else. The CMRC and SPI being gone is the #1 story of 2017. What will the top stories be in 2018?
Happy New Year race fans!
